Standing seam siding is a metal siding option very similar to standing seam roofing, featuring vertical metal panels with raised seams. Cedar siding offers unmatched visual appeal for your home’s exterior, developing a beautiful gray patina as it weathers and taking stain wonderfully. In contrast, vinyl, metal and fiber cement have a more uniform, artificial look. If your home already has vinyl siding and you’re looking for light changes without a full replacement, we’re here to help. However, for a full siding restoration, we don’t recommend vinyl siding due to its vulnerabilities. Vinyl can break easily, exposing your home to water damage, unlike James Hardie products, it is not fireproof, and can fade with prolonged sun exposure, especially dark colors. Heat can cause warping, and extreme cold can lead to cracking, making it less durable in challenging weather conditions.
